The client required 3D-printed replicas of medieval wax seals for an educational workshop. The original seals were carefully preserved in a cabinet and could not be touched.
We recreated the wax seals using reference photographs provided by the client, carefully modelling them in CAD to ensure accuracy. Once the seals were modelled, we 3D printed them in various scales that would be useful for the workshop. Each seal was carefully hand-finished with a wax effect coating to closely resemble the originals.
The 3D-printed seals were used in educational workshops, allowing participants to interact directly with these replica artefacts. This application of 3D printing showcased an innovative approach to preserving and engaging with historical artefacts.
We are an award-winning 3D Design, 3D Printing and Finishing studio founded in 2016 and based at the Design District in North Greenwich.
