Intricate “Rooms” Scale Model for Trade Show

We 3D printed an intricate scale model of 4 rooms for an industry trade show stand

The Brief

The client required a scale model of 4 rooms that would be displayed at a trade show stand in Liverpool. The miniature rooms were digital renders of real rooms, and the 3D printed model would be used as a prop to help tell the story of 4 people who were interviewed in the 4 rooms.

What We Did

We meticulously prepared the client’s 3D model for 3D printing, to ensure that it would print well. We checked each piece of furniture for mesh defects and corrected them where needed. We then 3D printed the furniture, walls, and floors of the 4 rooms separately, taking care to 3D print the intricate small items (like the kettle, toothbrush, and slippers) with sufficient detail. We assembled the 4 rooms and furniture items into one final piece. We sanded and hand-painted the 3D model in the custom dark red brand colour specified by the client. We built custom packaging and arranged a courier to transport the 3D model as one piece to Liverpool in time for the trade show.

Result

The 3D printed scale model made it to the trade show in good time and proved to be a great asset to the client’s stand. The 3D model attracted visitors and allowed them to interact with the stand, bringing to life the virtual world seen in their promotional videos.
