SUN.DAY of London required a batch of 3D-printed lids for her fragrance bottles. The lids had to be locally manufactured in an environmentally friendly, biodegradable material.
The perfume lids were designed to replicate the unique hand imprint of the designer on clay. The process began with the client providing a clay piece she had squeezed, which we used as the basis for the 3D-printed lids. We scanned the clay using photogrammetry and refined the 3D model in CAD to ensure it was suitable for 3D printing. Additionally, we embossed the client’s logo, shaped like an “S,” onto the lids.
We developed a mechanism inside the lid to securely attach it to the bottle while remaining easy to remove. After 3D printing multiple prototypes in various colours, the client selected a specialised moss green PLA material to reflect the fragrance’s natural composition.
To enhance the 3D aesthetic, we used a large nozzle for printing, creating wide layer lines on the lids. Manufactured locally, we batch-printed 100 lids, delivering a product that was both functional and visually striking.
The client was delighted with the bottle lids, which were used to successfully launch her new fragrance.
