Design Cube Award for Future London Academy

Fun and bright custom textural award designed and 3D printed for Future London Academy

The Brief

The client, a short design course provider, wished to create a fun and bright award to be presented to graduates of the Future Academy London programme. The award needed to look impressive and stand out, with a variety of textures, as well as being a pleasure to hold and display.

What We Did

To create the award as a 3D model, we interpreted and converted the client’s initial sketches and photographs of a design cube. We intricately added different textures by hand to 4 sides of the cube. We also developed a method to add the letters of each participant and name of the programme onto the design cube. We prototyped different sizes and design versions, going through a fitting and testing process with the client, until the final design was approved. We 3D-printed the digital model in a sustainable biodegradable material (PLA) in the RAL colour traffic yellow.

Result

The design cube awards were gratefully received by participants of the Future Academy London at their awards ceremony. We created a timeless and textural one-off award that can be held and proudly displayed by recipients.
